“Stay The Course” Really Means Using Our Troops As Live Bait “W’s” apologists just don’t get it. “W” has been in office for six long years. He is the one responsible for what happens, or does not happen during his watch. The constant blame game and trying to lay off “W’s” failures on former President Bill Clinton are readily seen for the Loser’s Limp it has always been. “Beam Me Down” Creationism This is the idea that suddenly God decided to Create Everything, and then took a week to do the job. It is quite literally telling God how to do His Work. It has the gall to put Him on a work schedule! It is as if there existed a penalty clause for late completion. If God Is All Powerful, why does He need a week ? Get the job done Now. The question is, why should He? Why would God be in a hurry? Does God have a deadline? Human beings made up the story. Your Uncle Ferd* Was an Idiot We enjoy God given free will so that we can make mistakes. So that in the end of the universe God will not. I assume that God does not want to make mistakes. He is perfectly willing to let you interact with evil for Him. God grants to you the power to choose. He guards your free will choices. He guards your ability to make decisions for yourself. God can learn nothing from you if He controls you. That destroys God’s Plan. Because that is always the way it has been is not an excuse. You Have to Choose to Sin Generally, sin is a transgression of a religious law made up by humans. This is the lowest level of sin. Sin is a deliberate disobedience. You have to know it is a sin, and do it anyway. You have to choose to sin. I am only concerned with the higher level of religious sin. The higher level of religious sin is that behavior which knowingly and deliberately interferes with God's Plan. It is our duty to follow those laws and rules. You Are Not God's Focus Some folks want an interested, paternal God. A God who cares of His children. A God that pays attention to every tiny act and thought of every second of every day. This is a childish fairy tale. God does not care what happens to humans. What would convince God to change His mind and act to send another emissary to Earth? All the others had failed from Moses to John the Baptist. That was a plan that apparently does not work very well. You Are Alone You are responsible for your own personal relationship with God. In other words, you must put aside the fairy tale of God hovering above your shoulder. Put aside the idea of a constantly observing God. Put aside the idea of a bribable, appeasable God. Put aside the idea of a capricious and constantly meddling God. A God that will save you from yourself. A God that will save you from current events. The hardest idea to accept is, that God does not care about you while you are alive. You Are A Disappointment to God? What is religious sin, especially if God is not going to punish you for your sins? Why can’t “sin” be as simple as God’s eventual disappointment at the results you have created of your life? God does not reject you, or throw away your soul when you are a disappointment to Him. If you waste your time, you can never get it back. Why should you waste even a single hour. Writing Large Differently I’ve just finished a major writing project. A kind of writing that I’d never done before: I created a script for a DVD. This was a part of a larger project I served as Director. The technology for production of such material is more available today than ever. More and more people are learning through the use of their own home computers and available software how to go about assembling a combination of still pictures, video, and sound tracks. Writing About The No Excuse-We Just Love to Party- Party Ironically I wrote my original notes for this piece at a Christmas party. I wasn’t feeing particularly Scrooge-ish, neither was I foaming with ebullient Christmas Cheer. In fact, I’d not yet even had a single beer to drink. We had arrived early, it was still daylight out, the sun was not yet past the yard arm, and I had little to do. I wrote some notes in the back of my rapidly expiring calendar. Writing About Something From Your Past As a command for an exercise in writing, writing about what you know, can have its perils. Yours might not know very much. You may have a poor memory for details. It is then up to you, the writer, to bring to that artificial environment, the white piece of paper, a degree of excitement and action. You must bring it to life to entertain your audience. You must convey emotion and the “vibes” of living interactions. Below is one of my interpretations, for 03/20/06. Writer’s Cramp and the Future Writer’s cramp, block, or an onset of fear of writing happens to all of us, even me, the loquacious one. The big mouth, the ever churning idea factory is temporarily stilled. Sometimes the turning point is internal and due to ill health, nutritional problems, or just being “off your stride”. Not this time. Sometimes it is external: the world becoming too much with us, or a series of events that suddenly greatly impose themselves upon you. Writers: All You Really Need to Know About Outlining Question: When do you outline? Answer: When you need to. Question: Before, during or after writing? Answer: When you need to. Question: When do you need to outline? Answer: When you have a problem you can’t otherwise solve. As simplistic as the above is, it works for me. Outlining is a necessary skill for writers. It is not a skill that must constantly used. It’s use is more often to be observed in theory, than in fact. Writers - Never Throw Anything Away This is to protect yourself, ideas are like fine wine, they need time to ripen and mature to full value. In this day and age of inexpensive RAM for computers, dirt cheap hard drives, and dirt cheap CD backup, no other writing activity is as important as the backup of files. Even your deletions in the editing process, don’t just toss your ideas off into the never-never land of the Ether; instead copy and paste them to a file called- - “Editing snippets from (- - - - - -)”. Writer's Comfort and Work If you've read some of my other articles, it might be possible to think that I am not aware of an author's need for physical comfort. Comfort at your workstation, or office. Don't mistake, I do stress using your time efficiently. Using "waste" time. Using "down" time. Using "dead" time. Writer's do not need any additional excuses to "kill" time. We are already too, too efficient at that already. I think all of us can agree to that. Winning the Cultural Crusade In another article I complained about the moral and intellectual dishonesty of all too many journalists covering the recent military actions in the Middle East. In that article I called those journalists sob-sisters. I accused them of being out of their minds. The recent kidnapping of two western journalists in Gaza simply underscores the ideas I stated at that time. Islamic fascists do not believe in a free press. Nor do they respect any other religion. Who Is Today’s Terrorist, Freedom Fighter, Revolutionary, or Statesman? There is today a generally world wide accepted idea that people in a country have the government they want and deserve. That when they deserve and desire a change strongly enough, they will do whatever it takes to get what they want in the way of a new style of government. It is also understood that the incumbent government will resist any changes with the full force of police, the courts, and military power. Most revolutions are achieved by means of means of physical force. Where Paths Diverge We all have them. They are always unexpected. They cannot easily be planned for. They do not sneak up on you and leap into your life to bite your butt. They just appear quietly. They do not seem all that important at that time. It is like adopting a kitten. So little, soft and cuddly, and it purrs! And your life is forever different. Different from what it might have been. What are they? The moments when you make literally life changing decisions. When You Thirst for Ideas, Go Back to the Well You Know I made an interesting find this morning while cleaning up one of these “messes” that grow ever larger, even when in plain sight on my desk. A story which I seem to have lost somewhere in the black hole of boxed storage, because I can’t find it on my hard drive. Therein lies a lesson for everyone. Never, never, NEVER completely destroy anything you write. Save everything to CD disks as simple text files. Back it up with hardcopy paper files. Back it up to another hard drive. When Torture Is AOK? It has been interesting to watch the Conservative commentators and “talking heads” on TV this week. They are obviously trying not to swallow the bitter bile of erosion of Conservative Principles and personal freedoms guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution under their erstwhile leader President George W. Bush. This erosion, and a growth of a more powerful executive, is exactly the kind of behavior that would have been expected of Liberals playing fast and loose with the Constitution. What Went Wrong? When I was a Junior in high school (1957), I watched my older friends (Seniors) go out and within a week, or two, get a job. That job was collateral enough for many to purchase a car, get married, and some were well on their way to parenthood and home ownership when I restarted school the next Fall. The overwhelming majority of married women had a non-wage paying job of homemaking and rearing children. It was considered important work in those ancient days. This was the “middle class” ideal. When I was in college in New Mexico, I first encountered the idea of a spider as a God. I was trying to learn something about the local culture and state history. There were several tribes in that state that had stories about Grandmother Spider, the Creator. By way of comparison, a spider might very well be a cute, cuddly critter when compared to God. God does not have a heart, in either sense of the word. God is pure intellect. God is only concerned about investigating His Questions. What Does God Look Like? What does God look like? I don’t know. I also don’t know if She, or He, wears boxers, briefs, or pantyhose, or needs any one of these choices. And are these questions really important? Well, I’ll grant that, to many people, an appearance by way of a picture, or a sculpture, allows them to visualize God more easily. As far as I am concerned, you may use any image you choose that pleases you. Well, well. The NIE has been around since April? Now we know that we have a case, several cases actually, of President George W. Bush lying through his teeth about very substantial matters: connection of Saddam to terrorist groups, WMD’s, necessary troop deployment levels, torture of prisoners, and now this NIE revelation that the President has known for five long months that we are in a losing situation in Iraq. How many U.S. soldiers have died in those five months? Death is a fairly substantial matter. We Sang Together in the Treetops Beauty and music are the balms of life. Music is supposed to soothe the savage beast. Learn to read and play music. Sing! You don’t have to be good, you just have to be good and loud! We sang in the treetops while we drummed on the branches. Learn to draw, paint, or sculpt. Take art classes. Learn to read about something new. Reading transforms the mind. War on Terror: Either We Win, Or We Die In the war on terror, either we win, or we die. These are the stark choices that we face. The terrorists are dedicated religious fanatics. They can only see one or the other. They can only hear one or the other. We Americans and Westerners may not want to believe that this is true. Wanting, like wishing, and the truth are seldom close together. War Brides War is, in the end, a struggle over physical resources and minds. Killing in war has never been considered “wrong”. It seems to be connected to the self-defense mechanism. We are hard-wired to feel a genetic sympathy for close, tribal relatives. War used to be about increasing life. Modern weapons are a lot more efficient for massed killing than spears and arrows. Modern armies are very different. Modern armies and weapons are very efficient killers and destroyers. Waiting for The October Shoe Surprise I’m waiting for the shoe to drop. Again. I thought it already had. Then that shoe turned out to be a hoax. Remember the story about terrorists planning to explode radiological bombs in seven NFL stadiums this weekend? That’s the problem with this kind of thing, when there is this much excitement in causing havoc, there are copy cats, idiots, fanatics, and college numbheads who want in on the fun. Vision Problems and Looking Into the Future? We recognize, because of our common experience of being socialized in a human community, our imperfections as human beings. We learn this as we grow up in contact with an immense variety of other human beings. Part of this is what we really mean when we use the term sophistication. A person from a small isolated rural village has not had the opportunity of exposure to as large a variety of people as has had a person growing up in a city. Upon Awakening From A Dream I was dreaming during my afternoon nap and my wife assures me that I was also snoring, “really sawing logs”. Psychologists tell us that our dreams are simply our brains trying to resolve conflicts. If that is true, I think I know the issues with which I was struggling, the things which generated this noise troubled dream. Immediately upon awakening, the dream and my answers still vivid, I began to write this material to further deal with the issues. Unjustly Accused? Just Kick the Dog Injustice is your nail. You must struggle against injustice. It is the struggle that is important. Do not expect to achieve perfect justice. Do not expect to right all wrongs. Do not expect to save the naive from the vultures. Little is more foolish than the hero carelessly charging off to save the fair maiden. Especially if later he discovers that the wench is a volunteer temple prostitute. Be careful of whom you blame for your perceived injustice. Understanding the Nature of God, Part VIII A View of God How does a simple idea, a view about the Nature of God, change one’s religion, religious practices, and even such fundamental human ideas as charity? If God is not human. If God has little interest in humans. If God has little interest in human activity, except possibly as a means to an end of His choosing? What then is the importance of prayer, ministers, churches, cathederals, or a heirarchial system of leadership of a religion? Answers: None. In that event, isn’t religion an invention? Understanding the Nature of God, Part VII What Will God Do For Us? What will God do for us? Nothing. Why should He? What does He do for the other species? Why should you expect to get any better answer to your fears and prayers than does a deer fearing a wolf and praying that he isn't seen or smelled? Don’t expect so much of God. God gets to be demanding if He wants to, and He doesn’t seem to do much demanding. On the other hand, God might expect some things of you, so that you might better enable His Plan. Understanding the Nature of God, Part VI What Do We Owe God? What do we owe God? Nothing. This not a question of debt. You haven’t borrowed anything from God. You have not run up a “tab” at some kind of celestial “company store”. You didn’t ask God for life. Your parents made that decision for you. You didn’t ask God for “soul”. You didn’t ask God for a portion of free will. These things were imposed on you. Free will allows you both rejection and refusal. When you are given a free gift, you do not have a reciprocal obligation to pay it back. Understanding the Nature of God, Part V Physics, Chemistry, Evolution, and God's True Creation How does God make the Universe work? It is called physics and chemistry, and He created it. The smartest of us can be challenged, study, and learn from it. To learn of God. To know God. Knowledge of God is not found by spending time on your knees. Knowledge of God is found by scientific study of God’s Universe. How does God make His created life on Earth work? It is called evolution and He created it so the smartest ones of us could be challenged, study , and learn from it. Understanding the Nature of God, Part IX The Man-God Relationship God is not very interested in us humans. Yes, we are indirectly His creation. Yet, we are only a tiny portion of Life. He Creates, changes non-life to Life. When He does, He creates a robust, persistent, tough, adaptable Creation. God Creates for Success. Success at What? Answer: Living. Life, growing, spreading out, changing and adapting to new and different environments, spreading from one planet to another across intergalactic distances. Understanding the Nature of God, Part III Exploration for Purposes of Understanding Exploring understanding the nature of God is usually done from the pulpit. Few questions are welcome at that time. Indeed, even then, almost always, church leaders choose the opposite track. God isn’t enough? Just add Jesus. That isn’t enough? Add The Holy Spirit. That isn’t enough? Anthropomorphize God. Add confusion, muddle details, and make exorbitant claims. Understanding The Nature of God, Part II - What We Think We Know About God God is. He exists. God is a living God. God is not human. God is sexless. God is strange. God is incomprehensible. God is mysterious and not easily understood. God acts in strange ways. God acts in incomprehensible ways. Yet God is a living God. The most distant living animal from humans is an arthropod. An insect, or spider might therefor fill the requirement. Understanding The Nature of God , Part I - What We Think We Know About God The most difficult part of understanding the nature of God is to come to terms with what God actually is, and is not. Ugly Truth: Well ! Isn’t That Interesting? World War Three Is Coming. I am surely not alone in noting with interest the angry response from around the Muslim world to Pope Benedict’s recent remarks about Islam and violence. I think that they protest too much. I think that they can see the justification for such comments. Even they can see that the continual and escalating violence around the world initiated by adherents of the Islamic faith engenders this belief. This makes them feel uncomfortable. It should. No one wants to hear the truth. U. S. Democracy At Risk The general incompetence of the current political party in charge has placed our Democracy at risk. I tend to think that perhaps they can’t help it. The Republicans have been out of power for so long at the Congressional level, and much longer since they have had both Congress and the White House that they lack practice. They are simply unskilled. That is why I think that they have had so huge a problem with corruption. Without practice they are unskilled at properly hiding their actions. Twelve Reasons for a More Realistic Creationism We humans are not alone in God's Universe. The results of Hubble telescope. The complexity question and the need for plenty of time. This is the downfall of a bunch of hypocrites. Thinking Out of the Box About Israel: Let Israel Move to Nevada There is a non-violent answer to the never ending series of conflicts between the Arabs and the Israelis. We have to realize that Israel is simply in the wrong place. That is what irritates the Arabs so much. That is the burr under their saddle. There is a cure for the condition. Offer Israel a new location. The “Well, Duh!” for WannaBe Writers In another article on this website, I set out the most important rules of writing. I just don’t call them rules. Two are the use of “down” time and scraps of time. A point: the day after I wrote that article for this web site, I again found myself waiting in a parking lot for an hour and a half. With my trusty pen and 5 X 8 yellow notepad, all was not lost. In that time I created nine single spaced pages of preliminary notes. Notes that could become a sound beginning for a new novel. The Ugly Truth About Hell I do not believe Hell exists, except as I will define it later. God doesn't need Hell. Some people need it, psychologically. Most people don't need Hell. A few people are well served by Hell. By promoting Hell, they get theirs. Most of what most people "know" about Hell comes to us from imagination and works of non-divinely inspired fiction. Most of what most people "know" about Hell comes to us from imaginary FICTION. Hell does not exist. War does exist. The Truth About Violence & War, Religion & Terrorism Human beings are too violent to be truly civilized. Civilization is only a thin veneer laid atop a thick multiple layered structure of fear, suspicion, jealousy, envy, acquisitiveness, greed and misunderstood sexual drives. It is, however, this thin veneer of civilization that keeps us striving for excellence, deflects our energy, and ameliorates our ruthlessness toward members of all species, but especially our own. The Threat of God's Wrath is a Terror Tactic Made up by Organized Religion I don't believe there is a Satan. God does not need Satan. Satan's chief utility is as a symbol. A terror tactic. Hell does not exist. Those that say it does exist, are terrorists in the truest meaning of that word. The issue is control. Who is it that controls you? Whenever you are asked to suspend your sense of credulity. Vote with your feet. God's wrath is a terror tactic made up by humans. God is not wrathful, or angry, or even mildly irritated at anything you do. Why should He b The Sand Under Christianity's Foundation There is no form of supplication that can get God’s attention. God simply does not care enough about humans to pay attention to such trivialities. The line where pagan religion ends and our “modern” religion begins is vague. Celebrations, rites, and supplications are acts of organized religion. These actions are promoted to seek to control human groups. They do this for the benefit of the religious leaders. Religious leaders do use their intellect for their own purposes. The Real Truth Revealed About Prayer & The IRS We are taught that a failure of prayer is our fault. If you believe that, you are hooked. God never answers prayers because it is not in His interests to do so. A curse directed at God is just as effective as prayer. God is a pragmatist. God wants results. Don’t beg God in prayer. He has already given you what you need. God will not help you. He will not hear you. He will not answer you. God best helps those who help themselves. The Power of Symbols and My “Ah! Ha!” Moment Symbols enable thought. Eureka! The lightning struck me on the road to enlightenment. Symbols are powerful devices for the manipulation of ideas. Symbols are an aid to thinking. Symbols are an aid to the conceptualizing process. Symbols allow us to add depth and breadth to meanings by way of simile, and metaphor. I found instances of a spider as a symbol of God. Observation quickly suggests that spiders are “cold”, “heartless” hunters. Spiders are obviously of a different species. The Last Time I Sat on Old Bars Old Bars was gettin’ old. He wasn’t very big, but he was smart, and rawhide tough. When we got him, he was Little Bars, and had stripes on his legs. He’d been a pack horse at one time, scrounging for his feed and keepin’ his rightful place in the string. We’d turned him into a saddle horse for the kids. He didn’t complain. Kind of moseyed along, enjoyed the better eats, and all the kid’s attention. The Failure of Organized Religion To know God, to know bliss, or ecstasy, is our highest calling while alive. Religion is a way to find and experience personal ecstasy. Organized religion should teach us how to attain ecstasy. Organized religion fails in this duty. It has failed to teach the importance of, and implementation of, the golden rule in our lives. Individuals need to be taught how to attain ecstasy through implementation of the golden rule. You cannot buy your way into "Heaven". The Big Lie of Creationism & Intelligent Design Your soul does not die. Your soul is a part of God, immortal and everlasting. We are all part of the Eternal Whole, God. We all return to God. We are the carriers of God’s knowledge. God is not all knowing. He even questions Himself. He wants to learn. He is curious. He has set up His Plan of the universe. He has set up His His system of evolution. He lets competition to survive create His versatile tools. You are a part of that Plan. God's Plan is the only Intelligent Design. Thank You George W. Bush Thank you for killing for all time the misconception that somehow Republicans had something over the Democrats in the field of Foreign Affairs. Thank you for also for killing for all eternity the misconception that the Father is like the Son. The tiny number of voters who chose to vote for you based on the idea that you would be able to tap the knowledge and expertise of Bush I have obviously found themselves adrift on an ocean of discontent. Terrorism From the Right Militant evangelical fundamentalists of whatever religion are dangerous people. They are ignoring what is good about religion. Killing, hurting, destroying, and causing schism is more important to them than the religious message. Protestant militant evangelical fundamentalists wear the same stripes as Islamic militant evangelical fundamentalists. Both are willing to violently attack people for political power. Both are willing to use government to force their religious laws on everyone else Ten Ways To Recognize Real Sin The key point for all that we do, is to take personal responsibility for what we do. Despicability does not necessarily make a sin. It might not be a sin against God. God doesn’t demand a lot from you. God doesn’t prohibit a lot to you. What is sin? Especially if God is not going to punish you for your sins? Sin is that which interferes with God’s Plan. God’s Laws are provable and observable. God’s laws are not interpretations by some human. Ten Steps to Success in Life The answer unfolds from the survival imperative. Clear perception, honest appraisal, learning, exhibit courage, responsiblity, reproduction, teaching, appreciate beauty & collaborative music, support your relatives, and support your society are the ten steps. You’ll note that there is not one negative in the bunch. Ten Proper Behaviors Proper behaviors are those behaviors derived from the evolutionary requirement for success. See through the camouflage. Fail this vision test and die. Be honest. Experience life. Be bold enough. Learn all the time. Think before you leap. Be observant and courageous. Play with friends and have fun. Get along with others. Modify our environment. Survive, Suffer, & Enjoy Sweaty, Satisfying Sex God is right out there in plain sight. God is visible if you have eyes to see. People would rather believe some mountebank, charlatan, or criminal priest. God has a purpose for you. His purpose is not one where He will be worried about your happiness. Your happiness has never been the question. People are not here, and alive, to be happy. Happiness is not part of the game plan. God’s purpose opens the door to incredible human adventuring, joy, suffering, pain, and death. Suicide Without A Sanity Test To commit suicide is, at least, slightly arrogant. God may decide you have not learned enough. God might very well send you right back to try life again. Laws against suicide are based on politics. Even Moses didn't try to proscribe that way out. Today, we force people into death by cop, or faked "accidents". In today's crowded world, we do not need the extra people. It makes sense to have a quiet, honorable way out without a sanity test, and an extremely protracted delay. Stream of Consciousness Writing I’ve been asked what I mean by a stream of consciousness writing. I mean awareness. I mean what you are seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, and feeling? What are you thinking? By way of an example look below: The stream of consciousness - eyes closed listening sensory awareness 9.21.06 2:30 PM. Sitting in the Home Depot® parking lot in Hilo, Hawaii. Staying Alive in Retirement: Learn Something New: Ham Radio Staying alive means more than just waking up in the morning still breathing. To me staying alive means to be engaged with life, my community, my family, and within my own brain. Today’s topic: Studying for and passing the Technician’s ham radio license. Sparks The most unusual town where I have ever lived is Sparks, Oklahoma. Sparks got its name from its origins. The origin was in work safety laws as they pertained to the railroads. Under the work safety laws, crews were only allowed to work for so many hours. Then a new crew had to take over. The timing of road length and crew changes did not always match the locations of towns. Solution: build some new towns. All over the west, railroads had lots of land, so picking spots was easy. Song: Rain Washes The Tears Away The sounds of rain drops on my roof brought this poem (lyrics) to me. I can't sing, or compose music, so the next best thing is to share a stream of words that evoke emotion and thought with the world. Something Stinks Like a Dead Fish Most of what we have been told about sin is a lie. The lies stink. They stink like a dead fish. They stink because their purpose is so venal. Only organized religion is served by these stinking lies. The lies do not serve the mass of people. The lies serve the purposes of organized religion. Very little that organized religion calls “sin” is really sin. God gives us life and free will. Sin then must negatively impact either life, free will, or God’s Plan. God has laws for living things, and the most important of these is the imperative for survival. Free will is the second level of God's laws for living things, as this conforms to His Purpose. Prostitution has been widely encouraged many times by organized religions. Sex Instruction: HIV and AIDS Seeing the world as it is, is God’s Plan. Sexual activity is God’s Plan for us. If you do not like God’s Plan, that is your real problem. Go argue with Him, if He’ll listen. I don’t think He will, so deal with the situation as it is, not as you want it to be. Be prepared to deal with reality. Teach your children what they need to know. Help them to know how to make better decisions. Help them live. Which immediately brings us to the problem of HIV and AIDS in the modern world. Sex Instruction You, and only you, must teach your children about sex, sexual activity, "safer sex", and especially HIV. Because the risks are so high for your child's life, you cannot take a chance and risk not doing this for your child. What's a little embarrassment, or a whole tub full of embarrassment, compared to the gut wrenching emotional pain of having to buy a coffin for your beloved child? Script Writing I am a writer. My job was to write a script. My job also contained a requirement to work collaboratively with the technician. We needed to meld and blend our array of skills to create an audio-visual creation for television or home use. It should contain a narrative story, still pictures, possibly video pictures, music background, and text on screen by way of titles, and credits. False religious leaders do not care about your soul. Prayer, Chutzpah, & Outright Stupidity Prayer is an attempt for direct communication with God. You also have tons of chutzpah, if you to beg in prayer for a free gift of knowledge from Deity. To beg for a gift without having worked for it, is as close as it gets to outright stupidity. You are the one doing the work. The prayer was a self promise of intent to do one’s best. Do not pretend to yourself that God is listening. He is not listening. God never gives us any promises. Prayer Is Not Sniveling, Whining, & Crawling To remain sane you need to seek to create a balance within you. You will experience good and evil. You will do things that are good. You will do things that are evil. Seek to balance evil with good. Threats, promises, and bribery are not forms of prayer. They are instead the immature actions of a child. History is always written by the victors. It does not demand sniveling, whining, and crawling. These actions are remarkably similar to those of a slave using nonassertive tactics to res Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition It is time that I give President George Bush some credit . His present stance of doing nothing is exactly the right thing to do when dealing with problem of the Israeli incursions into southern Lebanon and Gaza. Go for it, George! Sit back and watch. No Excuses, Sir If there is something you did of which you are not proud, you get no chance to blame it on someone else. You get no chance make excuses. You get no chance to blame it on circumstances you could not control. This concept of religion can be seen as distant, difficult, and uncompromising. I do believe in God’s grace. I am not planning any competition for the “prerogatives” of organized religion. I am not attempting to deny God. I am not trying to found a new religion.
