God is not very interested in us humans. We are indirectly His creation. We are only a tiny portion of Life. He is using us to continue His search for Perfection. There is only required one moment in Time of effort, one moment of Time, where God takes the time to “Create Life”. When He does, He creates, changes non-life to Life. When He does, He creates a robust, persistent, tough, adaptable Creation. Would you expect anything less of God? Would He create anything designed to Fail? God Creates for Success. God would naturally Plan for Success. Success at What? Answer: Living. Life, growing, spreading out, changing and adapting to new and different environments, spreading from one planet to another across intergalactic distances. Nothing precludes, stops, God from “planting” Life on many planets, many galaxies. Are you willing to be so sure of yourself as to believe that God cannot do as He pleases? God first creates Life. That is all He has to do. Life will take care of all the rest. Time and opportunity are the only other factors needed to eventualy reach what we believe is the pentultimate of Creation. . . us humans. So here we are on Earth, to do as our biological history, the result of God’s evolving Moment of Creation, compells us to do. Like all forms of life, from one-celled amoebas to elephants and crocodiles, and bats, our human (primate) task is to survive, to experience, to learn and to investigate the full range of good and evil. That is our job. The job of every single human being. When we have lived our life, a short term life, or a long life, we will report our lifetime of experiences and what we have learned from our investigations of life, and good and evil, to God. That report is much like, similar to, the playback recording function of a digital video recording - with this exception - I believe the recording mechanism is the soul. Once the record has been played, examined, and valued by God, then the soul is returned to God to do with as is His Will. This definition of the relationship betwen man and God suggests a much more limited role for Man. It is also a much less demanding role for Man. Further it calls into question nearly all of the facets of religion as we know it today. What then in this new view of God, and our relationship to Him, is the role of prayer? What is the role of priests? What is the role of churches? What is the role of hierarchial leadership organizations? When one takes the time to think about such things, it quickly becomes apparent that these things are Man’s creations. These things have little to do with a person’s life. These things do not have much real importance in a person’s life. They are of little value, or at least limited value. What is supremely important is the individual’s personal relationship to God. How this relationship is achieved and maintained by the individual is less important. God is and will remain the most important player in the relationship.
(c) Copyright 2006: George Wallace recently published a book on religion which lashes out at nearly all of the comfortable ideas about God, the trappings of organized religion, and the priesthood. His pithy comments and suggestions for a return to a God-centered personal religion will interest everyone.
