Remember the moral majority. Remember focus on the family, family values, moral authority, and God’s Gift of the Devine Right of Kings to the Republican Party to lead the nation on all issues dealing with morality, sex, and protecting the homeland. Hubris. Feet of clay. So much for protecting children. So much for telling the truth. So much for attempting to re-write history. So much for homeland security. This is the downfall of a bunch of hypocrites. Three major incidents of shootings at public schools by right to bear arms gun nuts in one week. Seven dead at last count. Possibly more yet to come. Five baby girls gunned down like baby ducks at a boardwalk shooting gallery. This ought to be enough to indicate that if we are not going to control guns, we ought at the very least control whom has access to our elementary and high schools across the country. At least one government official has proposed arming school staff to protect school children. He cites the case of Israel which has had zero armed school incursions since arming their teachers twenty-five years ago. Actually this idea has merit. The ferocity of the willingness to protect the young is well known across an array of species. The Constitutional right to bear arms belongs with and to a well regulated militia: the national guard is currently the closest thing that exists of an organization that meets the definition of a well regulated militia Well regulated means that members are well disciplined, are subject to military style discipline, and follow orders of their superiors. These trained people understand military discipline. These people know how to follow orders. They are actively familiar with the use and maintenance of weapons. They are easily defined as a well regulated militia. Such personnel would be concerned with protecting baby girls from insane murderers who have a too easy access to guns. Of course, this means little unless we as a nation are willing to require those who wish to carry guns be thoroughly trained, undergo psychological evaluation and be subject to background checks. We simply must limit and control who has contact with firearms. Former Congressman Mark Foley is not the only Republican cockroach running from the light. The light of day has revealed that there’s a lot of scurrying going on in the halls of the Republican controlled Congress. That, and ass covering, among other cover ups. If these insects had more fingers, they’d find more directions to point. The Republican culture of corruption in Washington DC has no bounds. So much for good rock solid Republican family values when Congressmen are given a free playing field to steal huge sums, corrupt children, and then have the leadership contrive and conspire to hide this state of affairs and activities for a year, or more. That sounds more like moral turpitude than moral leadership. That sounds like a leadership willing to go secret, avoid openness, and sacrifice the well being of children to further political ambitions. The big question is: was Mark Foley the only Congressional insect who wanted to create a new page in Congressional history? Are further resignations soon to be in the works? Just how far up the line is it to where the buck finally stops? The arrival of a new book "State of Denial,” by well-known author Bob Woodward points to the continuing hail of lies about the conflict in Iraq, the real history of terrorism attacks on the U.S., and recent attempts to re-write history by right wing operatives trying to preserve the legacy of George W. Bush. Perhaps it is a good thing that the election is only a few weeks a way.
(c) Copyright 2006: George Wallace recently published a book on religion which lashes out at nearly all of the comfortable ideas about God, the trappings of organized religion, and the priesthood. His pithy comments and suggestions for a return to a God-centered personal religion will interest everyone.
