When anyone says that they believe only this, or that. Then they have tied a blindfold over their eyes. They have become blind to the Truth of God. They are ignoring God. They are ignoring what is good about religion. Killing, hurting, destroying, and causing schism is more important to them than the religious message. They deny God. A blindfold of this type hides from the wearer the majesty, the beauty of that which we are all a part, God, Truth and the Universe. A simple teaching of the golden rule is all that is needed from organized religion. The most radical examples of this blindfolding is that which we now see today as an apparent highjacking of: (A) Protestant Christian religions. They have been highjacked by today’s Right Wing militant evangelical fundamentalists. These militants are fearful of change. They somehow feel that they are under attack by social and economic change. They are striking out, attempting to seize political power to better protect themselves. That is the force behind the recent spate of hoof in mouth disease shown by some of their less astute leaders. They also want to punish those that do not agree with them. These people do not believe in the U. S. Constitution. These people do not believe in a separation of government and religion. These people are perfectly prepared to use government to force their religious laws on everyone else. They have no religious tolerance. I question the motives of those religious leaders. Might they too highly value the prerequisites of their station? Are they fearing to lose these prerequisites, if they teach openly the precepts of their religion and call upon their followers to put away improper and violent behavior? Or are they seeking greater personal political power? (B) The religion of Islam has been highjacked by non clerical militant evangelical fundamentalist followers of the religion. This was done without protest by the mainstream clerics. The militant fundamentalists use the religion as a base from which to violently attack other people. The militant fundamentalists attack different, or divergent belief within a sect, countries, and cultures. It is my understanding that compassion for others was a pillar of Islam, and an absolute requirement to enter Paradise. Yet there has been no protest for actions taken, like 9-11 in New York City by the mainstream moslem clerics. In fact, there was approval of those actions from the pulpit and in the streets. I question the motives of those religious leaders. Might they too highly value the prerequisites of their station? Are they fearing to lose these prerequisites, if they teach openly the precepts of their religion and call upon their followers to put away improper and violent behavior? Or are they seeking greater personal power? No matter your culture, you and your family are in danger from these people. Be prepared and be careful.
(c) Copyright 2006: George Wallace recently published a book on religion which lashes out at nearly all of the comfortable ideas about God, the trappings of organized religion, and the priesthood. His pithy comments and suggestions for a return to a God-centered personal religion will interest everyone.
