Ten Ways To Recognize Real Sin

By: George Wallace

The key point for all that we do, is to take personal responsibility for what we do. To be honest with yourself. Yes, you did do this act. To do the sin, and then to lie to yourself, or others, is to compound the sin, as you don't learn from it. Despicability does not necessarily make a sin.

The real questions are: Does this act rise to the level of importance of actually being a sin against God? To sin against God, you have to work at it. You might even have to premeditatively plan to sin. Otherwise, it might not be a sin against God.

God doesn’t demand a lot from you. God doesn’t prohibit a lot to you. Most of what I think of as sins, are more often acts of omission rather than commission. You’ve left something out, as opposed to putting something in.

What is sin? Especially if God is not going to punish you for your sins? Simply, sin is that which interferes with God’s Plan. What could be more important than God’s Plan?

1. To "sin" is to voluntarily give up your ability to choose. To live without freedom. You lose your ability to maximize learning.

2. To commit suicide is a "sin" in most circumstances. To send yourself prematurely to God is, at least, arrogant. You are deciding for God the length of your span of life. He might not like your choice. Your tasks might not be complete.

3. Evil, and "sin", are the results of free will decisions. Usually the deliberately hurtful actions by people.

4. “Sin” can be as simple as God’s eventual disappointment at the poor results you have created with your life.

5. Waste of your life by sloth and lack of effort to learn, or deliberate, premeditated suicide, or murder of another person are "sins".

6. Since your God given task is to learn, mediocrity, being less than that of which you are capable, is another “sin”.

7. A parent’s responsibility and duty to the child and society and God is to encourage learning in children, to not do this is a "sin".

8. Never to question your perception of your relationship with God. To unquestioningly give up knowing God on a personal basis. Thus losing the opportunity to use your brain’s reasoning powers to learn. Losing the opportunity to be free of organized religious repression. These are four of the few real "sins" for which your soul should pay a price. God will decide.

9. When a person gives away his personal responsibility for his / her life to a religious organization. When a person gives away his personal responsibility for his/her religious practices to a religious organization. When these are given to a church. When these are given to a priest. When these are given to a minister. Then he / she truly “sins” against God. He / She has "sinned" by being less than was possible.

10. Only a consultation with a religious leader, or religious teacher, who does not give answers to questions is without the “sin” of annulment of free will. Listen to questions that help you think for yourself.

Take some time right now and think about sin. Write down a few sample sins. What you think might be sins.

Look at the list above again. Do you find your “sin” in the list? If not, I don’t think it is much of a sin against God. Maybe you are mixing up man-made laws with God's Laws? Maybe you are mixing up the laws of organized religion with God's Laws? They are not the same.

All man-made laws depend upon context and circumstance.

God’s Laws Are. God’s Laws do not depend upon context and circumstance. God’s Laws are provable and observable. God’s laws are not interpretations by some human.
