It is up to you to decide when, where, how, and if you will reach a personal relationship with God. You can choose to ignore God for your entire life. You can choose to break every man-made law, rule, or regulation. God will not care. You can’t break God’s laws of human behavior, because He doesn’t make any. Humans make up human laws for control of human behavior. God will still savor your essence when He calls you home. He will learn from you. Sin is that which interferes with God’s Plan. God will not punish you. He will learn from you. God will cherish you. You have the freewill choice to choose to live a good life. You have the freewill choice to choose to live an evil life. You can choose to enslave others, sell drugs, torture, murder, rape, steal, and commit adultery. God does not care. God will not stop you. God will not punish you. Do you try to stop ant colony A from fighting a war with ant colony B? Do you try and stop ants from making slaves of aphids? God will only judge you upon your death. The religious “sin” in your behaviors is in contravening God’s will. This is when you deprive the individuals you have hurt, or injured of their free will. This is when you deprive the individuals you have enslaved, raped, or murdered of their free will. Sin is that which interferes with God’s Plan. You have wasted their lives. You made the decision to directly interfere with God's Plan. Your after death experience with God is His to choose. Your living experience with God is yours to achieve, or not. You cannot achieve this personal mature relationship with God by buying your way into His favor. You can not do this by any means. Not by of acts of attrition, contrition, or multitudes of repetitive prayers. Not by self-inflicted pain, or suffering. Not by deprivation, immolation, or some even more creative form of death. You cannot “make it right with God”. Once you have done something wrong in the eyes of God, that moment is past. Sin is that which interferes with God’s Plan. You cannot take the salt out of the soup. God will still savor your essence when He calls you home. He will learn from you. Your essence will simply be more “salty” than others. God will decide about what you have experienced and learned for Him.
(c) Copyright 2006: George Wallace recently published a book on religion which lashes out at nearly all of the comfortable ideas about God, the trappings of organized religion, and the priesthood. His pithy comments and suggestions for a return to a God-centered personal religion will interest everyone.
