This concept of religion and religious practice is not easy to accept. It is cold and hard. It does not have any wiggle room. There is no chance to weasel out of anything. It offers no chance for excuses. If there is something you did of which you are not proud, you get no chance to blame it on someone else. You get no chance make excuses. You get no chance to blame it on circumstances you could not control. Yes, this concept of religion can be seen as distant, difficult, and uncompromising. So be it. You are a cadet in God's service. Learn to say, "No excuse, Sir." I do believe in God’s grace. After our death, no one goes to Purgatory. Purgatory does not exist. No one goes to Hell. Hell does not exist. We all go to God. God exists. We all go to Heaven. God exists. God is. God will receive us all. That, is God's grace. I am sure of two things: First, that I have probably managed to offend nearly every lightweight thinking religious follower and leader now existing on the planet. Well, to be frank, Frank, frankly, I tried. Secondarily, I’ve made a point of sticking a sharp stick in the eye, or softer nether regions of leaders of organized religion. Martin Luther nailed his written concerns to the church door to get attention for his ideas. I worked hard to do this much. I am not planning any competition for the “prerogatives” of organized religion. I don’t want them. That does not make me feel particularly safe and secure. I am not trying to sell a new religion. I wish only to promote individual personal religious practices. I wish to promote a different way to think about God. I am not attempting to deny God. Nor do I wish to diminish God in any way. I want to glorify Him in all of His aspects and names: God Almighty, Lord, Allah, and Jehovah. What I have suggested is what I perceive to be the laws of God. You are welcome to see, or think about God in any way you wish. You are welcome to gift God with any name for Him you wish. One difference, I am not prepared to force my beliefs on anyone. I am not trying to found a new religion. I have no plans to become the prophet of what I disdain. I hope that there are others who have somewhat similar ideas. I hope that there are others who have similar concerns. I hope that there are others who have similar unanswered religious questions. I hope that there are others who will find that I have helped them find a meaningful method of expression of their beliefs. To repeat, obviously I’m not interested in organizing a new religion. The only way to connect with others is on an individual basis. The only way to connect with others is possibly a referral basis. I hope you have enjoyed the read, the play of ideas, and will develop a new personal relationship with God. If you did enjoy this journey with me, share it with someone you suspect might also enjoy the trip.
(c) Copyright 2006: George Wallace recently published a book on religion which lashes out at nearly all of the comfortable ideas about God, the trappings of organized religion, and the priesthood. His pithy comments and suggestions for a return to a God-centered personal religion will interest everyone.
