God is not charitable. He gives no gifts. He is not “on-our-side”. No nation can be important enough to be important to God. This idea is human delusion and egotism. In World War II, European Theater, both sides prayed to the same God asking for victory. Victory went to the side with the most guns, soldiers, ships, airplanes, tanks and oil. Then the history was written. No all knowing and all powerful Being can be charitable. One gift here cancels the desired outcome in some other place. You’ve heard the theory that the movement of a butterfly wing here at this time causes tragedy there at a later time. Extend the idea to humans. If you protect a child from every hurt. If you protect a child from every decision. If you protect a child from taking independent action. The result is that he, or she, does not grow in self reliance. By protecting too much, you destroy that which is ultimately desirable. By taking away free will, you destroy that which is ultimately desirable. A spoiled child is not desired. Why should God spoil you? A knife blade to be strong, must be hammered, then tempered in fire and water. What is freely given to one, must be taken away from another. Is this good, or evil? This is the true message of the story of the rich man attempting to reach Heaven. His task was being compared to a camel attempting to pass through the eye of a needle. Could it be done? Yes. Difficult? Yes. Possible? Yes. Likely? No. (Matt. 19: 24)

His pithy comments and suggestions for a return to a God-centered personal religion will interest everyone.
