Boils in Your Bowels

By: George Wallace

What then of justice? First, it does not exist.

Second, it is an abstract idea, an artificial human construct.

Similarly, we humans also invented, in several different cultures and places, the artificial concept of zero. We invented it to make manipulation of abstract mathematical constructs easier. The Romans did not have the concept of zero. A zero is very useful. It lets us do things in mathematics faster and with more accuracy.

Justice is a symbolic abstraction which we invented for somewhat similar reasons. It is useful. It makes it easier to alleviate the very human feelings of anger, rage, impotence, and helplessness. Especially those feelings formed in the face of overwhelming free-will decisions and actions of others. Others who are stronger than ourselves. It alleviates the very human feelings about stresses of disease, accident, random chance and chaos.

Perfect Justice, if it could ever be achieved would be self limiting, and terribly suffocating. A system that was effective in creating justice would also create an existence which would be ultimately totally boring. Boring because of its uniformity. Injustice is a normal condition.

Injustice, power seeking, pleasure seeking, anger, pain, greed, suffering, and monument building are the basic fuels of human nature. They are part of the human universe. Without them, nothing changes. They are powerful motivators.

Nothing changes in Paradise. No one in Paradise is uncomfortable. Paradise is boring. Paradise is a uniform place. Paradise is Perfect. Perfection needs no changes.

I’m told that some men think Paradise is a place where they are surrounded by hordes of nubile, beautiful virgins. If that is so, I suggest that they re-think whether or not they really want to be there. Either alive, or dead. Nothing changes in Paradise.

Virgins in Paradise will stay virgins forever. You will have no desire to change their status. You will have no ability to change their status. You can’t change Paradise, or it isn’t Paradise. Look, but don’t touch could get a bit frustrating after a few thousand years .

Justice and injustice, one is just as important in the scheme of things as the other. If you do not like injustice, if it boils in your bowels, you will try to make changes to alleviate it. In that attempt, you are likely to suffer because of your actions. In that process, you will learn, and experience, and learn some more. Ultimately you will take that knowledge to God.

His pithy comments and suggestions for a return to a God-centered personal religion will interest everyone.
